Walker Evans was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. He was an early photographer of the documentary tradition in American photography, inspiring many to follow in his footsteps, like, Helen Levitt, Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander and many others.
For fifty years from 1920 to 1970, Walker Evans recorded the American scene as he saw it with his camera.
