The internet has spread a degree of cultural homogeneity. People try to express their
individuality on social networks but because we are all exposed to the same influences,
trends spread like wildfire. We all blend in.
With this series I have matched people to their landscapes through custom-made
knitwear. Their individuality is expressed through their face, their hair, their body language.
I enjoy exploring the contradictory notion of individuals blending into their background
with custom-made, individual garments, made slowly by hand in a traditional way. Knitting
is the ultimate analogue medium, complete with imperfections and replete with detail.
This series celebrates artisanal work, often marginalized in a world dominated by mass-
production, where sweatshops churn out copies of the latest trends.
