BIOGRAPHY

Berenice Abbott

Berenice Abbott was an American photographer best known for her black and white photography of New York City architecture and urban design of the 1930’s.
Abbott’s intention was not to simply record a place, but to convey the vitality of New York. Her work during this period parallels that of Walker Evans, who also often photographed New York’s hurrying pedestrians and architecture .
