Jan Cook’s work is about imagination and mystery. She worked as a photographer in Mexico and that experience influenced her imagery by developing her interest in traditional ritual and celebration. She has a fine art background and likes to work with with alternative and mixed media processes. Her images are a combination of photographic reality and fabrication created by using traditional darkroom techniques in unconventional ways.
Jan resides in Portland but is originally from Seattle. She has exhibited in the US and Mexico. Recently, she has shown at Roll Up Gallery in Portland and Gallery 1/1 in Seattle, and was published in Diffusion Magazine.
